ding [the sound of pavlov's bell ringing] I'm ahead of you! My last hp, a 5550, was bought about a year ago. I plowed through too many cartridges at rediculous prices - I paid more for cartridges than the printer in the short time it worked. Fortunately, the damned thing was poorly built and failed after about 7 months. I replaced it with a Canon pixma 4000. Individual ink tanks (5) which are small but very easy to refill. In the last 5 months I've refilled them 3 times now. My calculated savings is approaching the cost of the machine. You can even get specially made aftermarket refillable cartridges. The 4000 is a sweet printer, by the way. Good features and good quality print. I just wish they had used a better dual LED (green and yellow-green - very hard to tell when its flashing an error number). Phil I will never buy another HP printer. ever. --- Russell McMahon wrote: > HP just burned out, with malice aforethought, the > head on another > black ink cartridge on my G85 printer.
