HP just burned out, with malice aforethought, the head on another black ink cartridge on my G85 printer. Nice job they do. ALL inkholes are thermally welded shut. No black ink will ever pass its lips again. On any gear where they don't want it to happen HP are masters of detecting and limiting damaging thermal overload. In situations where they deem it likely there is a refilled ink cartridge present they gleefully crank up the power and destroy the head. It's very likely the last cartridge of mine that HP will ever have the honour of destroying. On this G85 or any other printer I ever buy. I've heard all the arguments advanced previously about various marketing models etc but none make enough sense to me to justify staying with HP. By all means use your printers and be happy. By all means be enslaved to their gold plated ink supplies. I'm off to see the world and seek my fortunes in other brands. Quite possibly I'll slink back into the fold whipped and whimpering a few years from now - but at present Canon and their refillable tanks looks like a much better bargain. While I value photo printing capability I'll not be going for the super swish 6 ink versions. Y M LM C LC B. I'm happy from reading advanced tests that the gains are minimal if they exist and the refilling issues sway me to a M C Y B scheme. Borderless printing, dual auto selected paper trays, inbuilt duplex and more, at an amazingly low price are enough. Meanwhile, I still pledge my allegiance to the light side of the renamed HP force. Even if their Luxeon LED mounting schemes are deficient :-). If anyone wants to buy a bargain G85 printer / scanner / fax / copier with new black cartridge plus quite a few calidad colour refills, see me :-) RM -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
