I've made telescope mirrors, you grind a parabola into a glass disc, then coat it with aluminium. Shiny! It's one of those things that's obvious in hindsight, but I wouldn't have picked using chocolate as a polishing agent. Toothpaste, yes. I recently saw a article doing the same with an aluminium satellite dish. But still, spotting the potential in the wrong end of a coke can is pretty good!
