Does Hyperterm give you the extended characters (8 bit- line drawing, etc.) already? If it doesn't, then a new font isn't going to get you what you want is it? And what about the control codes? Unless you are in binary mode you're not going to see ESC, DC1, XON/XOFF, etc..
