I traveled on an airline in about 1985 that had a "weighbridge" in front of the check in counter - you were weighed as you checked in. Didn't change the fare, but possibly allowed them to carry more cargo. (Or less fuel ?) It takes more fuel to transport a 300lb man than it does a 150lb man. Basing fares on weight only acknowledges the realities of the economics involved with air travel. I guess only the fat people where up in arms... ha ha!
