Does it make much sense to stock both LDO and "normal" linear
regulators any more?  (assuming you want to avoid the "complexity"
of a switcher.)  At low circuit power consumption (20mA or so),
the extra 5mA or so of a 7805 over a "good" modern regulator makes
some difference...
