For a long-established company like Microchip you'd expect
better. "Removed Data Sheet Clarification issues." is not good,
and raises more questions. Firstly, I simply don't understand
what is meant by "issues". Secondly, does the removal of the
clarifications mean that the chip is now in step with the manual ?
If not, why were they removed ?

The manufacturer has to be THE definitive authority and the
last thing you need as a designer is confusion or uncertainty
in the documentation

But I've had this discussion with Microchip Technical Help, and
frankly the product knowledge and ability to answer the question
asked of some FRONT LINE personnel is pathetic
