Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarence_Melvin_Zener ) says=20
the diode in question was named after Mr. Zener.  Photos of him can be=20

Looking further, the American Heritage=AE Dictionary of the English=20
Language, Fourth Edition has a wav file indicating the pronunciation is=20
zeeeeener as in Xena, Warrior Diode.  Dictionaries are not always=20
correct, nor are they representative of speech in far-flung wild places=20
like New Zealand, as an example.

Of course, Mr. Zener is no longer with us so you can say it however you=20
want.
