Well personally I find some of them interesting. Those that I do I'll read
the threads until I loose interest. (Which dosn't usually take long) Once OT
posts steer clear of Religion & politics and other such topics liable to
generate flames I'm happy. Hmmmm. Maybe we should ban C vs ASM posts too :)

Do we really need a WOT tag? I don't think so.

A member of the list occasionally expresses offlist polite but 
vehement dislike of my OT postings. Others write expressing 
appreciation. I try to strike a balance but don't always win.

A typical complaint was re my recent TISATAAFL OT posting. I asked for 
OT answers but there was still some spillover into general OT 
discussion. I count 15 postings to list (including my own initial one) 
and 50 kB of bandwidth. I feel that that's not unreasonable BUT I can 
see how some wouldn't.

Since 1 March I have originated the following OT threads (may perhaps 
have missed one or two).

"Huge metalworking links site"
 Hydroelectric power makes more greenhouse gases than .... International
paper madness Cellphone towers disguised as trees Web hosting
recommendations sought Mediaeval sword virtual museum First dark galaxy
found ... TISATAAFL


I personally don't feel any of these steps outside the ethos and 
intended scope of the OT channel BUT others may disagree. Most are 
technical in some manner or other. There's cosmology, materials, old 
technology etc
"International paper madness" was both a rant and a query and a 
comment on monetary forces and common sense and more. Certainly way 
outside PICs and electronics but it feels OK to me. BUT YMMV.

SO - what do you think?
Should I modify my scope. Do you loathe and despise my OT posts and 
gnash your teeth with fury as my spawnings fill your mailbox with 
garbage. Or do you look forward to them. Or none of these?
I was going to say please answer OFFLIST OFFLIST OFFLIST OFFLIST 
OFFLIST .
But on reflection,  onlist may suit some more.
SO - PLEASE LEAN TOWARDS ANSWERING OFFLIST !!!!!!!!!!!
But if you think others will benefit then answer onlist OT if it feels 
good.

I'll summarise any responses I get directly.

I would personally favour a [WOT] tag but James doesn't want one for 
various no doubt excellent reasons. .
Apart from "paper madness" & TISATAAFL I'm not sure that any others of 
the above belong in WOT, but that could be decided if it ever came to 
exist.
