I've been using CodeWright for a long time now. But it's been killed by
Borland, and I'm looking at cross-platform choices more now anyway.

I had a few brief looks at Emacs, but it seems the step to get it working,
with project setups, compile/build setups, and it working differently from
most GUI based editors, seems to be quite big. That's both for
configuration and learning how to use it. 

Can you help with that? Is there an easy way to get it going? It seems to
be possible to do almost everything with it, but then it seems you also
have to learn a lot to do almost anything with it... :)
