I've been wracking my brain over this.  I need to find the speed of
several fractional horsepower DC motors using just the signal seen from
the motor running off a simple DC power source (AKA battery).  There
appears to be a 'noise' signal that can be used but suggestions how to
use it would be welcome here.   I currently don't have any handy
magnets and optical devices for this kind of measurement and thought
"gee why not see what I could use the scope I had for".
