Can this be > done? Use multiple RS232 transceivers (either all in one IC or separate). Then use standard logic gates to route signals from processor pins to appropriate transceiver. You could use eg CD4052 (from memory) analog type multiplexer or a digital multiplexer . 2 pins for TXD/RXD and 2 pins for multiplexer control will give you 4 channels.
