I've used it on a number of 16F's, without a problem.  I don't think I've
actually tried it on an '84, however.   Since it requires and administrative
account it is sort of a pain, so I tend to only use it for PICs I can't
program with FPP.

You might shoot a note off to Wolf.  He seems to be pretty good about
helping.
