Well, if I'm doing a schematic for production, that's one thing, and I want exact parts unless I say otherwise. If I'm doing a prototype, or just a schematic to illustrate or document something, then a resistor is just a resistor. As I said, most of my designs start out as "just a schematic" to get the shape of the circuit right. I don't want to worry about 1%, 5% yaego or Panasonic, I just want a resistor there. I may not even know the value closer than an order of magnitude, so it just slows me down to have to go specify an exact part.
