Network problem. Radio connected 256 kbps to ISP. PPPOE router connects wireless modem to 10/100 switch. Network started running extremely flakily or not at all over past few days. I did not see it until today. Modem shows strong signal at all times but drops in & out of service. Connected a laptop to LAN at switch and also to router (which has own built in switch) Router is 192.168.0.1 Can ping router from PC but get no ping reply from router or switch connection. Connecting laptop to PC cable still no good. Connecting PC to laptop cable works OK (so cable OK, switch OK, router-switch connection OK) Status LEDs light OK at laptop and router or switch when laptop connected. Laptop works OK on home LAN. Home router is 192.168.1.1 but laptop is dual hosted on both routers - but shouldn't be needed for pinging. Conclude that network and laptop have become fully incompatible. Previously worked OK. Note that network connections involve both TCPIP as before PLUS ?new? "Microsoft TCPIP version 6" - both ticked as active. Saw this after midnight just before leaving (didn't spend long on site). Couldn't Google there as net too flaky. Google from home suggests people having problems with both TCPIP versions enabled together. MAY be source of all problems. Will try again tomorrow. Where did the new TCPIP version come from? (Windows download) Does this problem sound familiar. Googling produces much that MAY be related but nothing definitive.
