You are missing an EXTREMELY critical addition you your statement above. Aside from needed to be above absolute zero, you need a temperate DIFFERENCE between the two sides of the couple. If there's no delta-T you get nothing out of it. And of course, but having a delta-T and extracting energy the two sides of the couple will tend to a temp delta of zero.
