Strangely enough, if you use Kodak "Infra Red" film, UK fire engines look yellow!  (OK, this isn't real 
colour, only the film's interpretation of IR into a visible colour - it does look weird, though :-).

The fronts of trains in Britain have been painted yellow for many years, presumably so they are easily seen by 
track workers.
