Grrr, that excuse always bothers me. I have a Gateway Solo 2550, which I've used non stop since 2000. I have newer laptops and a few desktops, but this one is my main workhorse. I'm even on it right now :) It's a PIII500 (an upgrade I did) with 288MB of RAM (Also upgraded by me). I've also upgraded the hard drive about 4 times. It came with an 800x600 screen, but at the Dayton Hamvention I managed to pick up a salvage Solo 2500 and swap the screens and interface cards, giving me a 1024x768 screen for $30...sweet. However, I'm stuck on Win98. The unit runs Win2K just fine (I tried it on another harddrive once). The only problem is that Gateway won't release drivers for the touchpad. It works (kind of), but it's missing all the nice scrolling functions that I've gotten used to. So their official response to my query was that it's impossible to run Win2K on that model. Uh, scuse me? I'm pretty sure it runs fine, I just want to know if you have drivers. GRRR. FWIW the Gateway website calls it an "EZ Pad Touchpad". Also, anyone else going to Dayton this year?
