Why does everyone think that HP had money and Compaq didn't when the merger happened? The truth is that Compaq had a big pile of cash in the bank and HP wasn't looking so good. Just another leveraged buyout. Look at the statistics: 1) Carleton went to work for HP in 99 2) Two and a half years later HP was a mess 3) HP "buys" Compaq, and about three years later it's a mess and she is out of a job My wife works for HP (formerly Compaq) and hates it now. I'm not sure why, but I think it has something to do with standing on pins and needles for a couple of years waiting to see when she was going to be laid off. Morale is horrible within the company, people were literally dancing in the halls yesterday in celebration of the ousting. HP's stock went up 11% immediately after the announcement, that should indicate something about her. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
