Apparently you're not the only one. It seems Google has recently changed
their invite policy, lots of people woke up to 50 invites this morning -
myself included.

A quick hop over to the isnoop web site shows they have over 28,000 invites
available right now. Looking at their usage graph it seems they've never
done more than 5000 per day before, seems a big change has happened at
google.
