FWIW, they're doing road construction near here and they've narrowed all the lanes of one of the major freeways by "some" to make more room for the actual construction. I don't know how much narrower the lanes are (this is one of those 5-lanes per direction, 65mph highways where most people exceed the speed limit when traffic doesn't make it impossible), but the narrower section is (for me) noticeably "tenser" to drive on, and it's even more noticeable when the narrow section ends in a couple miles and the lanes widen again...
