My wisp628 [from kit] works very well with xwisp in linux. And I'd guess that the all-C-version (builds into a single EXE and don't need the couple-of-1000s files Python kit) of XWisp (XWisp2, found at http://www.robh.nl/), could quite easily be built on Linux. The OS-dependent parts are all in a separate source file and there is no GUI (of course) involved. Mainly file and serial I/O routines to take care of. Why bother ? Well, on my 800 Mhz W2K box, the C version runs in half the time of the Python version (aprox, YMMV...).
