Oh, just to share an experience on how bad CD media are (or how badly I treat them), I used one obsolete backup as a coaster for my mug of iced drink.. after a while, when i picked up the mug, I noticed that the area under the mug was not translucent... and slowly, after a few more drinks, it turned totally transparent... the chemical coating seems to have reacted with the beads of water that form on the outside of the mug... and also at ice cold temperatures...
