I've been an enthusiast for RAMTRON's FRAM technology for years. They are fast yet require NO flash write time. One can write the entire array in one sitting without any delays. Despite having designed the parts into thousands of products, I have yet to find one that failed in service- an event approaching virgin birth- for me, a grouchy old bastard who gets paid to break things. To my surprise, Feb 2005 Scientific American on P33 says that University of Arkansas researchers have discovered a breakthrough in the ferroelectric process, allowing the manufacture of FRAM devices up to "100,000 TIMES" more dense than the present technology. That approaches high density flash. Imagine, flash without the write cycle.... You saw it here first, folks.... --Bob -- Note: To protect our network, attachments must be sent to attach@engineer.cotse.net . 1-866-263-5745 USA/Canada http://beam.to/azengineer -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
