I hope I am misreading you! Look at MPASMWIN. You put in a big ugly command line, the assembler pops up a window with a progress bar. And maybe worse, on some of the 6.x's (I don't know about 7) the MPASM without the WIN went missing. Pain in the neck when you are building a library with make.
