Often buying something from a small company can be more secure because they
are more willing to make information available.  For example, the source
code, interface spec, and schematic for the EasyProg are all available.  At
worst, a company committed to the EasyProg would have to re-enter the
schematic and lay out a board if the EasyProg was suddently withdrawn for
some reason.  I'd also be open to licensing agreements if a large customer
wanted to build their own EasyProg or ProProg, or incorporate the circuitry
into their system.  Try getting that from Microchip.
