My brother's G4 is hooked up to 2 x standard vga monitors and any USB keyboard and mouse will work. In fact, he replaced the Apple mouse with a Microsoft wheel mouse. He ordered a Mac mini yesterday to use for offboard effects and filtering. He uses Cubase VST on his G4 and that will allow you to run a cut down version of Cubase on a second machine. The two machines talk to each other over an S/PDIF connection. Being small and quiet, the Mac mini seems ideal.
