errr... ok, I agree OS X has lots of features than the PC. wait. OS X is an OS, and the PC is a computer. that doesn't make any sense. pal, don't compare OS X to WIndows 98! If you're comparing to 98, you should compare with System 7 or 8. And that OS doesn't have all the teeny-whiny features you mentioned. Regarding to the drivers issue, I never have driver issues either. Right, if you buy cheap-ass hardware, even for the mac, you WILL have issues. I have a nVidia video card, a 3com 3C905 network card, and a Creative labs sound blaster audio card, all added after the installation (windows detected my Epox motherboard just fine). But if i was going to use an Encore NIC or a Genius modem, that would be a problem. Besides, if OS X is such a good OS, then why doesn't Apple port it to x86? Yeah, because all of the windows issues with bad drivers and crappy hardware will be right there, just like in windows. In fact, windows already has over 10 years of experience (counting since windows 95 of course), while OS X doesn't have that experience. Oh and don't tell me OS X can't be ported. Any program can be ported to basically any platform. Especially now that the only difference between PCs and Macs is the processor. Memory, buses, peripherals are all the same. AND OS X is just BSD. And BSD has been in the x86 family for a loooooong time. I talked once to one guy who claimed that "apple doesn't want to make software, is a company that makes hardware". That's just stupid. Bill gates made his fortune by selling software, not hardware. So why would anyone, with a product software which is so good that it will destroy everything before it, not release it for the most extended platform? Maybe because they fear that they will sell little OS X and no Macs at all. But hey, Mac OS X is the best OS after all..... isnt it? hjf -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
