I saw one report of about a 33 foot tsunami coming ashore (someone probably rounded 10m), which is a lot smaller than I would have thought would cause death toll reported. How far in from shore were the major fatal effects felt? WAS it something that you could walk (or run) away from given about 10 minutes notice?
