Max, I just went through this :) The SN754410 is VERY easy to use, just like any logic chip. You can drive 2 motors with one chip. They can be bough inexpensively (http://www.glitchbuster.com), for $1.77 each and only 1.85 shipping on virtually ANY order. :-D I was very happy when I found that site. Other places sell the chip for $5 <- Ridiculous. Anyways, the only downside is that the chip can only handle 1A. So you'll have to find motors with a reasonable stall current.
