> Mike and all, > > Wanted to report that I succeeded in updating the Warp-13 firmware with the Wisp628 programmer. Encountered several problems along the way but succeeded in using a 16F873 as the base for the Wisp code with minimal changes to the software. Learned a lot about the JAL compiler in the process. With the Wisp(873) and Xwisp driver I was able to program the new "blue pole 1.5" firmware to the 18F252 and drop it into the Warp-13a. Had some difficulty setting the config bits, but discovered that this was because of the order they were being set in the firmware *.hex file and the code protection settings. Once I got all that figured out and the 252 programmed, I dropped it into the Warp, fired it up and it worked the first time. Took about 3X the amount of time I planned but learning new things often requires at least that amount of time. > > Thanks for all your help. Good to know. I've always kind of wondered if that sort of "making a duck lay a chicken egg" programmer creation would work. I suppose there's no reason to suspect it wouldn't, but it's always nice to have a real-world confirmation.
