I think there should be a nice PDF for ProProg since it is supposed to be a professional programmer. Of course for the US$59 EasyProg, there should also be a simpler PDF (like Kitsrus) for it as well. I still think a nice casing would increase the appeal of ProProg. It can be an optional item though. It is said that "the ProProg is a brick outhouse industrial strength design where utility and robustness were more important than price". For me something without a casing is not really robust enough. Maybe I am wrong. Glad to know that both PCBs are actually produced in China. Sorry to ask but I am just a bit curious. How do you establish the contact there? Are you doing it through a middle-man since there are some language barriers for smaller prototyping house? I was also wondering if the cost can be reduced if you changed the part of EasyProg to SMD and reflow most of the SMD parts. Then the PCB can be much smaller and the end-user will have less troubles. Maybe they also lose the pleasure of actually building a programmer. :) I admit that I am not a hobbyist so I do not quite understand the pleasure of actually building a programmer with all the parts ready. So maybe this is not an option after all.
