I thought these, or equivalent technology, had been around for a while, perhaps under other names from other vendors? Those could have been grey market devices, though. Are these the ones with a new-cell voltage of about 1.7V, thus giving all us 5V-logic types something new to worry about (4 AA cells now being uncomfortably above the 5.5V max operating voltage of most things, even with the canonical dropping diode.)
