actually, a large part of it is that it's ozone depleting. it also makes any toxin a contact poison! carbon tet is very readily absorbed through the skin and will take even fairly large organic molecules with it. this was/is widely used as an easy way to make highly effective contact poisons, or so i've heard (the cia apparently got very good at it, being able to use just enough to make someone sick. while carbon tet by itself evaporates quickly, when mixed with something else it can persist a bit longer and still be a very effective vehicle for getting things into the blood stream, apparently). then again nicotine is one of the best poisons around, a cigarette having more than one lethal dose if administered all at once, though i still think adults have the right to poison themselves any way they wish i also wish people realized that heroin addicts say it's more addictive than shooting heroin, and arguably more destructive other than the impurities found in most such street drugs. (i don't think any one should shoot anything! i also don't think it's the states business, but that's another argument, and i certainly think the state has made the problem worse rather than better). nicotine apparently has in the past often been used in prisons to kill after doing a water extraction and then concentrating it into a single drop which is toxic if applied anywhere on the skin, and rarely spotted in an autopsy even if someone cares. carbon tet is now nearly impossible to get except for a few lab analysis techniques that still use it although supercritical CO2 is now widely being used to extract organics, but it's hardly practical for cleaning most electronics, especially given it's tendency to create static problems when sprayed. however liquid CO2 is apparently a wonderful solvent, when it can be used. one should be very careful with solvents around any highly toxic material, including those commonly sold to eliminate pests and common household toxins. many solvents will help make materials much more readily absorbed and more toxic. gloves are a really fine idea. then again i like solvents that smell bad, because they remind me not to breath them, i don't like solvents that smell safer than they are. The majority of Americans did not vote for him. Why is he there? And I tell you this morning that he's in the White House because God put him there for a time such as this: Lt Gen William Boykin, speaking of G. W. Bush, New York Times, 17 October 2003 = God gave the savior to the German people. We have faith, deep and unshakeable faith, that he was sent to us by God to save Germany.
