TTYL At least a 'pet rock' had some amusement value. And sadly, it IS possible to make a cell phone signal booster with just passive elements, but it wouldn't work unless placed next to the antenna. But since you can't get something for nothing, it would cause the phone antenna to be more directional. There are also 'passive reradiators' available for GPS systems, commonly used for vehicles, and they DO work, particularly for those with conductive windshields (electric defrost) and dash mounted GPS.
