in any case, i have notified tektronics, though it probably is essentially public domain, along with asking for said manual. i also found a schematic of the relevant part of the power supply in an article on power supplies online which should do it. most likely replacing the cap etc. will fix it (previous repair attempt didn't replace the obviously bad cap which could easily blow transistors and resistors invol= ved).
