WRT a public mailing list I agree, but in the context of a personal email the signature verifies the sender is authentic, decreasing (though not eliminating) the chances of someone spoofing a mail in order to gain private information. Headers are easily spoofed, but spoofed headers are usualy pretty easy to spot. If someone wants to be an a-hole on a public mailing list, I suspect digital signing isn't going to deter them.
