Yeah, I did post something about it on this list about 4-6 weeks ago, with a
link to the Tek website for it.

Yes, although the SMPS should be isolated from the mains anyway. Just
remember that the mains is about as close as you are going to get for a
constant voltage supply, so if anything goes wrong, it does so in a big way
:))

However the advantage of the isolated scope is that the isolation is not
only to mains earth, but between channels, and there is a four channel
version, with every channel isolated from every other channel.

I take it you mean the earth pin, and I agree - definitely not recommended,
in fact highly dangerous, as it is all too easy to touch a scope probe earth
which may be connected to anything but earth.
