IIRC the one of the front goes on the front, and the one on the back goes on
the back. I.e. the BOT goes on the front edge (the edge nearest you when it
is on the drive), and the EOT on the back edge when on the drive. That sound
familiar? We did have the occasional tape from manufacturers where both
markers were on the same edge, and it either never found BOT when loading
the tape, or ran off the end when writing.

There is a similar thing going on in the model railroad industry at the
moment with one manufacturer claiming to have a patent on motor control
using back emf.
