I've definitely used 80 column punch cards and 1 inch paper tape, but those
don't have "write tabs".

I once wrote a small operating system for minicomputer.  While bootstrapping
up the operating system I used paper tape as my binary library.  All the
routines were spliced together on a single roll.  When I changed a routine,
all I had to do was cut out the old version and splice in the new one that
was dumped straight from the assembler to the paper tape punch.
