I don't have anything against a dedicated H-bridge (that would be my preferred solution) it's just that I've been having some difficulties finding one at reasonable prices in hobbyist quantities. The device you mention is not available through either mouser or digikey, which puts it at a disadvantage. My needs are not that demanding. I'm only looking to control perhaps 1-2A @ 12-24V and I don't need any stellar PWM frequencies.
