Today Parallax announced the FREE SX/B compiler for the
SX18/20/28microcontroller. SX/B is for education, hobby or engineering an=
d
is designed to help the transition from high-level programming (such as
BASIC Stamp=AE programming) to low-level programming (SX assembly languag=
e).

Among the many familiar BASIC commands in SX/B:

- Branching (BRANCH, FOR..NEXT, GOTO, GOSUB, IF..THEN)
- Digital I/O (TOGGLE, HIGH/LOW, PULSIN/PULSOUT)
- Numerics (LOOKUP/LOOKDOWN, RANDOM)
- Serial (SHIFTIN/SHIFTOUT, SERIN/SEROUT)
- Analog and sound (SOUND, PWM, RCTIME)
- Power control (SLEEP)

Many BASIC Stamp PBASIC constructs are implemented in this compiler to ma=
ke
the SX chip easier to program, though it is still necessary to understand
the SX architecture, oscillator speeds, page switching and integer math t=
o
get the most from this high-speed microcontroller.

The SX/B compiler also supports in-line assembly,interrupts, debugging,
bitand byte variables and common math operators. As the Master Distributo=

for the SX, Parallax provides the chips at a low cost to consumers
($1.79-$4.80 each @ qty. 1) and the SX Tech Tool Kit for only $129.

SX/B is fully integrated into the SX-Key 3.0 IDE. This includes an on-lin=
