Has any one come across GEC Industrial Controls Gemstart CCU (contactor control module) ? I "Inherited" a stalled project that uses these on about 30 3 phase motor drives ranging from 40 HP to 250 HP. The modules provide the operator interface for local and remote start/stop control of the motors and monitor motor current via ct's for over current tripping. It also has inputs for plant safety and sequencing / interlocking with an RS485 communication buss between all CCU's and a couple of GEM 80 PLC.s and a separate RJ45 connector (6 conductor) for module programming and apparently stand alone operation. The modules have an Intel PB0C31BH L6150048 Micro Processor and an Intel D27c256-2 windowed E-Prom (covered) with LCD Alfa/ graphical display and 14 Led's for operator feedback. The modules have never been put into use and have spent the last 10 or 12 years (some powerd up others not) in apalling conditions in a humid hot tropical environment. and now that I have been asked to get some of the equipment operating I find that not one of the modules are apears to be functional with various error messages on the LCD display including "UNPROG, FAIL, TRIP etc." Sorry about the verbose intro. My questions are:- 1 Can any one put me onto a source for information / documentation for these modules. (GEC Ind Controls apears to have been taken over by another company who have thus far not responded to E-mail enquiries) 2 Are these Micro's or Eproms subject to spotaneous deprogramming or programme coruption over time or environmetal conditions? 3 Any other thoughts.
