I've run MANY 2K installs and I've NEVER encountered USB problems that ended up being pegged on the OS in ANY way. > On Microsoft platforms your best USB support will come > with Windows XP. Sorry, no, I haven't had one case where XP worked when 2K didn't. Didn't have the other side either. Remember, XP is basically an extension to 2K, while there are some enhancements the basic core code is the same. > USB support on Linux is very complete and the source > code for it is totally open and available. While USB port hardware is well supported under Linux there are still MANY devices out there that don't use one of the "standard" USB classes and require proprietary drivers from the manufacturers, which often don't supply jack for Linux. While the community has been great with getting some devices drivers for Linux there are still MANY USB devices out there that have NOTHING for Linux.
