Well, that's the problem right there, while the 741 is about as bad as it gets when it comes to op amps, there really isn't anything more common then it. FWIW I HATE the 741, way to troublesome a beast to deal with compared with modern alternatives. Can't really recommend anything else without knowing what's available to you. Off hand I'd recommend a CMOS rail to rail single supply opamp above all, eliminates many of the issues that make the 741 really hard to deal with.
