I've got a lightly used battery drill about 15 years old. The batteries are now pretty much useless but it was OK up to a year ago. Also a Makita FWIW. Trouble is I can buy about 5 new drills for the price of a replacement battery. I'm going to look into getting the pack rebuilt though. RP Well aware of that, however these were not being trickle charged. NiCd cells are kinda like wells, if you pump it heavily and often no problems, but if you let an old well sit idle too long it dries up. I would say 10yrs * 50wks/yr * 5cycles per week (minimum) is good life for a battery. But try getting 10 years out of a NiCd that spends most of its time doing nothing.
