Of course, since I hadn't done it before I imagined all sorts of possible limitations and the linker error messages were less than helpful. That all helped me overlook the obvious for a few hours ... I couldn't spell NAME! But now it's working, and it makes sense, and it's exactly the sort of behavior I would have hoped for.
