Since when charging batteries you usually don't care
what the voltage is below a certain limit (ie on a 9.6
volt battery, there is probably no need to know if it
is <5 volts). So (for example) two equal series
resistors would only give a usable range from 2.5 to 5
volts (5v to 10v input). The top resistor replaced
with a 5 volt zener would give a full 5 volt swing on
the A/D converter input (5v to 10v input) and give
better resolution?
