I "can" run, not I "do" run...but there are a bunch of PIC compatible or 
semi-compatible cores. Opencores has some, Silicore has one, there are a 
couple of research or "not finished" PIC core projects...

If you're going to synthesize a CPU core for new development, however, 
there are probably cores worth using that have less, *ahem*, 
ideosyncracies than PIC ;-)
