I'm afraid I don't have the gift for spotting references that many others have, but I can say that B is usually byte and b is usually bit. At least, whereever I've seen. My little rant is that bunk about "one gigabyte = 1,000,000,000 bytes" which means that hard drives never have as much space as advertised.
